Rishabh Pant is under heavy fire as his poor form with the bat has got him a fair share of criticism. The Indian captain with 57 runs hasn’t delivered the goods with the bat and has been out playing rash shots time and again during the series. Many big names have come out to criticize Pant, but one former Pakistani player has body shamed him.
The story as it happened –
Rishabh Pant replaced KL Rahul as the skipper after the 30 year old was ruled out due to Groin injury. The injury took place just 24 hours before the start of the series which also ruled Kuldeep Yadav out. Pant was named the captain of the side and Hardik Pandya the vice captain. India lost the first two games at Delhi and Cuttack, but Pant and his men won the next two at Vizag and Rajkot.
Danish Kaneria’s controversial remark –
Former Pakistan leg spinner Danish Kaneria has become a full time critic after this exit from his playing days. The 261 test wicket veteran said “I want to talk about Pant’s wicketkeeping. I’ve noticed one thing – he doesn’t squat lower and sit on his toes when a fast bowler is bowling. Seems like he is overweight and being bulky doesn’t give him that much time to come up quickly. It raises concern over his fitness. Is he 100 per cent fit? But when it comes to his captain, bowlers and batters including Hardik and Karthik have supported him well. Pant also has a chance to become the first captain to win a T20 series against South Africa.”
Pant is part of the Indian team for the test match against England, he will need to find his form soon with a host of matches ahead for India. Pant plays a huge role for India as India also have the World T20 later this year.
