IPL 2023: Will Jacks comes up with a hilarious reply to RCB’s welcome tweet

The dust has finally settled on the TATA IPL auction for 2023. Friday saw an action packed day at the tables as the teams were going for broke. Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green dominated headlines as the trio broke every auction record on Friday.

Each and every team finally settled on their 25 member squad for the TATA IPL 2023 season. RCB too made their picks and one of them was Will Jacks the English spin bowling all rounder who was bought by the Faf Du Plessis led side.

The latest addition to RCB –

Will Jacks the 24 year old off spinning all rounder from Surrey was bought for INR 3.2 Crores. RCB decided to go big for him as he has been instrumental in England’s 3-0 whitewash of Pakistan in their recent test series.

RCB’s welcome message gets a funny reply from Jacks –

RCB took to Twitter to welcome their new 3.2 Crore addition to the side. RCB wrote “Joining RCB’s #classof2023 . Name – Will Jacks, Price-320L Welcome to RCB family “. 


The picture posted by RCB caught everyone’s attention including Will Jacks who replied “Grateful for the opportunity and excited for this! @RCBTweets. Ps: not sure about this photo.” 


Bangalore focus on English and local talents –

RCB came into the TATA IPL 2023 auction with a purse of INR 8.75 Crores. They spent 5.1 Crores on English duo Will Jacks (3.2 CR) and left arm seamer Reece Topley for (1.9) Crore.

Young Indian talents like Sonu Yadav, local lad Manoj Bhandage and Himanshu Sharma got 20 Lakh each. Avinash Singh and Rajan Kumar got 60 and 70 Lakhs each. RCB are already well equipped in every facet including their spin department where they have Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed.

Will Jacks recent outings –

The 24 year Jacks made his test debut for England recently and played the first 2 tests at Multan and Rawalpindi. During his debut test he picked 6/161 which were his only wickets during the series. With the bat he scored 89 runs in the four innings with an average of 22.25. Jacks, also made his T20 debut against Pakistan before the T20 world cup and played 2 games scoring 40 runs without getting a single over to bowl.

Jacks domestic T20 numbers –

Will Jacks has played 102 T20 games and scored 2532 runs with a best of 108 not out. This is his only century along with 20 half centuries, with an average of 29.1 and a strike rate of 154.3. Jacks has 23 wickets with a best of 4/15 and an economy rate of 7.1 RPO.
