BCCI selectors will converge to meet to pick the ODI team for the 3 match series against South Africa. India is set to give Sanju Samson a recall and not only that, he is also set to be named the vice captain of the side. The 27 year old recently led the India A side to a 3-0 clean sweep win over New Zealand A.

The story as it happened –

Public anger was at display as Indian selectors did not pick Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson for the T20 World Cup. Samson was overlooked even for the home series against Australia and South Africa in the T20 format. Samson in 2022 has had one of the best years with the bat both for India and in the IPL. He led his side to the final of the TATA IPL 2022.

Sreesanth makes a massive claim about Sanju Samson –

Former India pacer and two time world cup winner, Sreesanth has seen Sanju Samson grow up while made his debut as a youngster for the Kerala cricket team. Samson made his debut for his state side aged just 16, when Sreesanth was a member of the Indian team and a regular for Kerala. Sreesanth said that not only IPL but Sanju Samson has to be showing consistency even in the domestic circuit for his Kerala side.

‘start performing in domestic games’-

Sreesanth who is playing the Legends League Cricket 2022 was in conversation with leading newspaper outlet Hindustan Times. While speaking to the newspaper Sreesanth said “He has to be consistent. See, everyone is talking about the IPL. I’m from Kerala, I’m somebody who has always supported him. I’ve seen him play from U14. He has played under me. In fact, I was the one who gave him the cap on his Ranji Trophy debut. But the way I see him… it’s a request to him – he has to start performing in first-class matches,”

Sreesanth stresses the importance of domestic cricket –

Indian cricketers have always spoken about the crucial role domestic cricket plays in getting them noticed for international cricket. Sreesanth too feels the same way, and has urged Samson to do the same. The 39 year old former India pacer while speaking to HT media further said “Yes, IPL is very important. IPL will give him fame, popularity, and riches, everything across the globe. But I have this strong feeling – for any cricketer for that matter – that they need to start doing extremely well for the state side, especially in first-class cricket. Sanju has to come out and perform in first-class matches. Not just score a hundred, score 200s. Come and make the Kerala team win the Ranji Trophy! Make Kerala team win the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Then, the Kerala cricketers will come out on top,”
