Indian Cricket: Fringe player set to replace Ravindra Jadeja for Bangladesh series

It is a never ending cycle for the Indian cricket team as they are playing one international series after another. The Indian team is currently in New Zealand playing the 3 match ODI series. The Indian team have already won the T20 series by a 1-0 margin.

New Zealand won the 1st game at Eden Park on Friday, and took a 1-0 lead in the series. The 2nd match of the series is set to played at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, even though there is a huge cloud over the game due to the rains.

The story so far –

Ravindra Jadeja, has been missing in action for a while now since its freak injury. The 34 year old suffered the injury during the 2022 Asia Cup tournament and missed the rest of the Asia Cup as well as the 2022 T20 World Cup.

As per the reports, Jadeja is sidelined from the Bangladesh tour since he hasn’t been able to get back to his maximum fitness. Jadeja was originally named as a part of the team but now has had to pull out of the 2 match Test and 3 match ODI series starting early December.

Saurabh Kumar in fray to replace Jadeja –

As per the reports doing the rounds, 29 year old UP all rounder Saurabh Kumar is set to getting a call up. The 29 year old is in fray to replace Ravindra Jadeja after his years of solid work for the Uttar Pradesh Ranji team.

It was expected that Surya Kumar Yadav will be given his first test call up for India but that may not be the case anymore. India will need a solid left arm spinner and decent lower order batter to replace the gigantic presence of Ravindra Jadeja.

Born on 1st May 1993, Kumar has played 52 first class game for UP scoring 1723 runs with the bat. He has a best score of 133 with 2 centuries and 10 half centuries. With the ball, he has picked 222 wickets with a best of 7/32. Kumar has picked 17 five wicket hauls and 6 occasions of picking ten wickets in a game.
