Indian Cricket: Netizens have a go at BCCI for ignoring a proven talent after Siraj’s India call up

X

Indian cricket on Thursday was rocked when it came to light that, Jasprit Bumrah will not be going to Australia. The 28 year old has been detected with a back injury and will not seen playing for India in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The news of Bumrah missing out on the 2022 T20 World Cup has shocked a million Indian cricket fans. The BCCI were quick to name a replacement player for India in the final 2 T20I’s in Mohammad Siraj.

The Story as it happened –

Mohammad Siraj who has been a consistent performer for India in the test format has gained a call up for the T20I series against South Africa. The 28 year old from Hyderabad will play the final 2 games of the series which are to be played on Sunday and Tuesday. India had won the first game at Kerala and Bumrah had missed the game which was played on Wednesday.

Indian fans question BCCI –

The Indian cricket fans weren’t happy with the selection of Mohammad Siraj and they were quick to question the move. The fans came onto social media and spoke about the fact that 31 year old T Natarajan was snubbed despite his ability to bowl Yorkers. Natarajan hasn’t played for India in a while and has been out injured post the TATA IPL 2022 season.

India lacking a death over specialist –

Jasprit Bumrah’s return had every cricket fan heaving a sigh of relief as it ended the death over misery. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has cut a disappointed figure in the 19th over in recent times. Even Arshdeep was taken for runs by Maharaj in the 1st T20 on Wednesday. The fans have questioned the logic of adding Siraj who himself is vulnerable in the T20I format and has gone for runs.

Mohammad Siraj and his numbers in the T20I format –

Sirah made his India debut in 2017 and in the 5 years he has played 5 games for India. In those 5 games he has picked mere 5 wickets with an economy of 10.45 runs per over. His last game for India was against Sri Lanka early this year, at Himachal Pradesh where he picked 1/22 from 4 overs. Siraj hasn’t given the same confidence to the Indian team as much as a Natarajan who has the ability to bowl slower balls and also has the perfect yorker.
