Indian Cricket: result recap from the 1st day’s play of the 4th round of Ranji Trophy 2022

The new year began with the Indian cricket fans having a double dose of cricket. 3rd January saw, the Indian team play their 1st international match of the year with the T20 versus Sri Lanka. The same it was the start of the 4th round of matches and some amazing records being created during the course of the day.

Chandigarh vs Tripura – Agartala

Tripura won the toss and chose to bowl 1st and endured a long day in the field as Chandigarh ended the day at 313/2. Opener Arsalan Khan scored 73 (134B with 14x). The heroes of the day were skipper Manan Vohra with 124* (215B with 16x4) and Kunal Mahajan with 103* (142 B with 14x4 and 1x6).

Andhra vs Hyderabad – Vizag

Ravi Teja’s 5/34 saw Hyderabad bowl out Andhra for a paltry 135 with only two batters reaching double figures. Opener Abhishek Reddy with 81 (145B with 15x4) and Nitish Reddy with 13 were the top scorers. In response Hyderabad had lost 3 wickets with captain Tanmay Agarwal out for 35.

Nagaland vs Odisha – Cuttack

3 half centuries dominated the day as Nagaland batted the entire day to score 291/6. There were 3 half centuries for the visiting side with Chetan Bisht not out on 94 (153B with 11x4 and 1x6). S. Mundhe scored 66 off 103 balls with 11 fours, while H. Zhimoni scoered 59.

Bengal vs Uttarakhand – Dehradun

Bengal captain Abhimanyu Eeswaran was literally playing at home as he scored an unbeaten century at the cricket ground which is named after him by his father. Bengal batted first and lost Sayan Mondal for 18. Eeswaran and Gharami added 170 for the 2nd wicket with Gharami out for 90 (190B with 11x4 and 1x6). At stumps Eeswaran was not out on 141 (238 B with 12x4 and 1x6). Bengal ended the day at 269/3 after Anustup Majumdar fell for 3.

Meghalaya vs Arunachal Pradesh – Anand

It was a run scoring day as Meghalaya scored a massive 424/3 at stumps on day 1. Raj Biswa with 49 began the attack. The main scorers of the day were L. Kishan who scored 128 (223 B with 17x4). The highlight of the day was Punit Bisht who scored an unbeaten 205 (193B with 35x4 and 1x6)

Mizoram vs Manipur – Ahmedabad

14 wickets fell on the 1st day as Mizoram were bowled out for 104 in their 1st innings. Sreevats Goswami was the top scorer with 58, while P. Jotim picked 4/35 with the ball. In reply, Manipur had 4 wickets with R. Longjam’s 39 the top score for Manipur.

Manipur leads Mizoram by 13 runs with 6 wickets left

MP vs Vidarbha – Indore

Rajat Patidar scored a sublime century for the defending Ranji Trophy champions. MP ended the day at 234/6. MP at one stage were 11/3 before Patidar and Aditya Srivastava added 74 for the 4th wicket. Patidar was out after scoring 121 (236B with 20x4).

Railways vs J and K – Surat

The 1st day at Surat saw Railways scored 322/8 with Mohammad Saif scoring exactly half the runs. Saif was not out on 161 (216 B with 23x4). For the visitors it was Abid Mushtaq who picked 3 wickets along with 2 wickets each for Aquib Nabi and Umar Nazir.

Punjab vs Gujarat – Valsad

Nehal Wadhera stole the show with 120 not out off 234 balls as Punjab ended the 1st day at 276/7. Prabhsimran Singh with 43 and Anmol Malhotra with 41 were the other contributors. Chintan Gaja picked 3 wickets for the hosts.

Jharkhand vs Rajasthan 0- Jaipur

Left arm seamers, Aniket Chaudhary and Tanveer Ul Haq picked 4 wickets each to bowl out Jharkhand for 92. Aryaman Sen with 38 was the top scorer for the visiting side. Home team Rajasthan lost 4 wickets to end the day at 101/4 with Yash Kothari scoring 52.

Kerala vs Goa – T’Puram

Rohan Prem stole the show with an unbeaten 112 off 238 balls with 14 fours and a six as Kerala scored 247/6 at stumps of Day 1. He was supported well by Sachin Baby who scored 46.

UP vs Haryana – Lucknow (No play due to bad weather)

Baroda vs HP – Vadodara

It was a great day in the field for Captain Vishnu Solanki as he saw his team end the day at 327/7. Solanki led the show with an unbeaten 164 off 247 balls with 24 hits to the fence.

Assam vs Maharashtra – Pune

Half centuries by lower order batters S. Puryakastha with 65 and Akash Sengupta with 63 not out as Assam ended the 1st day at 272/9.

Saurashtra vs Delhi – Rajkot

Jaydev Unadkat scripted history when he picked a first over hattrick which is being done for the 1st time in Ranji Trophy history. Unadkat with career best 8/39 bowled out Delhi for 133 with Hrithik Shokeen top scoring with 68. In reply, Saurashtra had a 51 run lead thanks to the 104 not out by Harvik Desai.

Mumbai vs TN – Mumbai

16 wickets fell in Mumbai as Tamil Nadu were all out for 144 on the 1st day. Tushar Deshpande was the star with figures of 5/37 as Shams Mulani picked 3 wickets. For the visitors it was Pradosh Paul who top scored with 55. Mumbai lost, Jaiswal and Jaffer for 0 and 4 before Shaw with 35 and Rahane with 42 helped Mumbai take the lead. At stumps Sarfaraz Khan was on 46 with Tanush Kotian on 9.

Karnataka vs Chhattisgarh – Bengaluru

Ashutosh Singh stole the show with 118 not out as the visitors ended the day at 267/5. Amandeep Khare was unlucky to miss out on a century as he fell for 93. V. Kaverappa continued his good bowling form with 3 wickets.

Puducherry vs Services – Delhi

3 wickets for Diwesh Pathania and Poonia helped services bowl out Puducherry for 216. Arun Karthik top scored with 58, in reply Services lost opener Sufiyan Alam retired hurt without scoring.
