Indian cricket: Reason reason why the selectors were sacked

The BCCI on Friday took the drastic steps of sacking its selectors. The move comes after the Indian teams dismal performance during the semi finals of the T20I cricket World Cup. The Indian team lost to England in the final four game by a whopping ten wickets. This had left the Indian cricket fans and experts angry at the meej surrender by the Rohit Sharma led side.

The Indian team led by Hardik Pandya is in New Zealand for a short series. The Indian team is slated to play 3 T20 games and 3 ODI matches. Pandya is the stand in skipper of the T20 side while Shikhar Dhawan is going to captain the one day side.

The story so far -

The BCCI on Friday sacked the entire selection committee. The committee led by Chetan Sharma also included Sunil Joshi, harvinder Singh and debasish mohanty. The board has now invited fresh application for the Indian selectors.

Once the move was made there was widespread shock and perhaps some relief. The Indian selectors have been called out over the years since they assumed office for the non selection of performing players.

The reason why Chetan Sharma and co were sacked -

Nearly 24 hours after the entire Indian selection committee was sacked. The reason has been revealed. A BCCI source speaking to the media said " For Chetan to save his job, India needed to win the T20 World Cup. Nothing less could have saved him. But once, he was asked to select four squads at one go (New Zealand and Bangladesh away series) which was unprecedentedone could read between the lines"

KL Rahul scored 128 runs from the 6 games India played. He scored half centuries against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe while against the much better sides he failed. Even captain Rohit Sharma scores just 1 fifty against Netherlands.

The Indian fans will hope the new selection committee will pick the likes of prithvi Shaw and other performing players who have been ignored
