India began their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign with a win over Pakistan on Sunday at the MCG stadium. Virat Kohli played a splendid innings as he scored an unbeaten 82 runs from 53 balls to guide India to an 4 wicket win off the last ball of the match. Virat Kohli was then seen in years as he was walking off the field. During the post game interaction he said he rated this knock much higher than the 82 he scored against Australia at Mohali in 2016.

Just before the start of the 2022 T20 world cup there were reports that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and ravindra jadeja will be asked to retire from the T20 format by the BCCI. The Indian cricket board wants the trio to prolong their careers and play the fifty over format and the test format. The BCCI views the trio as key ingredient in building the future

As per reports Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will call time on their career post the end of T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma will like to lead the team in the ODI and Test match format.

The 2022 T20 World Cup gives Rohit Sharma and his team a chance to win the world cup for the first time in 15 years. India haven't won a ICC title since 2013 when they won the ICC champions trophy under MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma was part of the team which won the T20 World Cup in 2007 when it was played got the first time

Virat Kohli is playing his 5th world cup and could be playing the final time. He has won the ICC champions trophy and ICC 50 over world cup in 2011.
