Sunday was a sad day for the Indian fans as they lost a close game to Pakistan. The men in green held their nerves to eke out a 3 wicket win with a ball to spare. Post the game, while the Pakistani fans were happy, the Indian fans were unhappy with two incidents that happened during the game. One was Asif Ali getting a life towards the back end of the game. Asif Ali got a reprieve when there was a bit of a spike and he was caught behind by Pant off Ravi Bishnoi and both the on field umpires and 3rd umpire gave it not out.

The story as it happened –

Post the DRS decision going his way, Asif Ali swung at Bishnoi and got a huge edge and Arshdeep was settled under it. The young Indian pacer dropped what would be considered an easy catch under normal circumstances. The fans weren’t happy with the catch being dropped at such a crucial time. It soon came to light that someone had also tampered with the Wikipedia page of the young bowler and there was massive mischief on social media.

Mohammad Shami thunders in anger –

Arshdeep Singh was in massive eye of the storm post the dropped catch as there was mischief and pre-meditated provocation in the social media. The Indian fans were quick to rally behind the youngster. Indian pacer Mohammad Shami too was upset and during a chat with TIMES NOW the pacer said They only live to troll us, have no other job. When we perform well they don’t say you took a good catch but will troll us?” Shami said to Times Now. “Agar dam hai toh real accounts se aaye na, fake account se toh koi bhi msg kar sakta hai. I’ve faced this and it doesn’t affect me because my country stands up for me. I’ll only say to Arshdeep , don’t let this hamper you because your talent is immense,”

Irfan Pathan too throws his support –

Former Indian left arm pacer and all rounder Irfan Pathan too was seen giving the youngster his support. The 37 year old former Indian player turned commentator and actor said on Twitter “Arshdeep is a strong character stay that way boy”.

Shami too faced the same thing last year-

Pakistan had beaten India during the T20 world cup last year by ten wickets. There was a narrative built up about Shami getting hate and yet again there was mischief on social media. This has become a sick trend and the Indian government has now stepped up to clamp down on such hate.
