Ranji Trophy 2022: Action from the final day of the games from the 2nd round

The eyes of the fans were on the ongoing India-Bangladesh test and the 2023 TATA IPL auctions. Amidst all this the Ranji Trophy saw an end to its 2nd round of games on Friday and here are the results.

Completed games –

Meghalaya beat Sikkim by ten wickets

Mizoram beat Arunachal by an innings and 118 runs

MP beat Chandigarh by an innings and 125 runs

UP beat Nagaland by an innings and 230 runs

Gujarat beat J and K by 9 wickets

Karnataka beat Puducherry by an innings and 7 runs

Mumbai beat Hyderabad by an innings and 217 runs

Delhi vs Assam – Guwahati

Overnight – Assam trailed Delhi by 4 runs

Assam gained a crucial 4 run lead and declared the innings 443/9 with M. Hussain falling for 46. Dhruv Shorey scored yet another century to go with 252* in the 1st innings. Shorey scored 150 (188b With 18x4 and 2x6), along with Anuj Rawat who scored 109 (135B with 10x4 and 4x6). The openers added 226 in 45 overs before Delhi ended the day at 292/1 in what was a tame end to the game in a draw.

Bengal vs Himachal Pradesh – Kolkata

Overnight – Himachal Pradesh needed 393 to win with 9 wickets left

Starting the day at 79/1, Prashant Chopra continued his good form with the bat as he scored a century to secure a draw for the visitors. Chopra scored 109 (205B with 15x4) as he found support from Ankit Kalsi who scored 82.

Match Drawn – (Bengal take the points due to the 1st innings lead)

Bihar vs Manipur – Ahmedabad

Bihar took home the points thanks to a slender 1st innings lead of 15. Bihar scored 311 in the 1st innings and bowled out Manipur for 296. In the 2nd innings, Bihar scored 287/9 before declaring . Bipin Saurabh (54) and BS Binny (53) were the top scorers. Chasing 303 to win, Manipur reached 248/8 before the game was called off.

Tripura vs Vidarbha – Nagpur

Overnight – VID led by 313 runs with 4 wickets left

Ganesh Satish with 151* (206B with 18x4 and 1x6) helped Vidarbha take 344 run lead. Chasing 345 to win, Tripura were all out for 124 with Wriddhiman Saha top scoring with 27. Akshay Wakhare picked 4/50 while Aditya Sarwate picked 3/45 to help the hosts win the game.

Vidarbha win the match by 220 runs.

Rajasthan vs Kerala – Jaipur

At Jaipur, Rajasthan took a first innings lead of 31 after bowling out Kerala for 306 in the 1st innings. Deepak Hooda scored yet another century in the game to stay not out on 155 (155B with 10x4 and 4x6) to give Kerala a target of 395. Chasing 396, Sanju Samson with 69 and Sachin Baby with 81 couldn’t prevent Rajasthan from taking home the crucial points after the match ended in a draw.

Baroda vs Haryana – Vadodara –

Following on Haryana needed 189 runs to avoid innings defeat with 9 wickets left

Y. Singh with 94 and further half centuries by Shivam Chauhan, Ankit Kumar and Jayant Yadav helped Haryana avoid defeat against the home team .

Match drawn – Baroda take the points due to 1st innings lead

Uttarakhand vs Odisha – Dehradun

Overnight – Odisha were trailing UTK by 167 runs with 6 wickets left

Odisha could only add 68 runs to their overnight total as opener Abhinav Sarangi scored 93 with the bat. Abhay Negi did the damage with the ball as he picked 5/33 to bowl out Odisha for 165.

Uttarakhand win the match by an innings and 99 runs.

Andhra vs Tamil Nadu – Coimbatore –

Overnight – Andhra led TN by 114 runs with 5 wickets left

5/88 by Sai Kishore helped TN bowl out the visitors for 250. Chasing 203 to win, the match went down to the wire as the home team were bowled out for 194. Sundar top scored with 65, as Indrajith scored 43. Shoaib Mohammad Khan was the lead wicket taker with 6/69.

Andhra wins the match by 8 runs

Maharashtra vs Saurashtra – Rajkot

Overnight – SAU trailed MAH by 218 runs with 4 wickets left

Arpit Vasavada scored 127* (225B with 13x4) along with Samarth Vyas with 93 (153B with 11x4 and 2x6) as the home team took a crucial 4 run lead .

Services vs Chhattisgarh – Delhi

Overnight – services trailed CHG by 31 runs with 6 wickets left

5/38 by Ajay Mandal bowled out Services for 221 to set Chhattisgarh a target of 46. The visitors got to the score in the 13th over without loss of any wickets.

CHG win the game by 10 wickets along with a bonus point

Goa vs Jharkhand – Jamshedpur

Overnight – JHA led by 24 runs

Armed with a lead of 24 runs, Jharkhand scored 212/3 declared with Virat Singh scoring 100* (97B with 9x4 and 6x6) to set Goa a target of 237. Goa finished the day at 61/3 from 23 overs before the match ended in a draw.

Punjab vs Railways (2 day rescheduled game )- Delhi

In the 2 day rescheduled game, Punjab bowled out Railways for 102 in the 1st innings thanks to 5/37 by S. Kaul and 4/16 by G. Brar. Punjab took a 50 run lead thanks to 57 by Naman Dhir. In the 2nd innings, railways were 49/0 before the game was called off.
