Indian cricket team is getting ready to play the 3 match ODI series against New Zealand which starts on Friday. The eyes of the fans will be on the team selection as they would have their eyes on one player in particular.

The player in question is none other than Sanju Samson, the 28 year old warmed the benches for the entirety of the 3 match T20 series. This move angered the legion of Indian fans at the way Samson has been treated. Former Indian all rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi has now joined the chorus and had a go at the treatment meted out to Samson.

Reetinder Sodhi blasts Rishabh Pant –

Indian wicket keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has come under fire for his performances. The person to question him is none other former Indian all rounder, Reetinder Singh Sodhi. The 25 year old has had a forgettable 2022 with the bat in the T20I format with mere 346 runs. Pant hasn’t been able to kick on his form with the bat shown in the Test and ODI format.

Sodhi wants the selectors to sack Pant –

Speaking to the media, the former Indian international said He is becoming a liability for Team India. If it’s like this, then bring in Sanju Samson. End of the day, you got to take that chance because you cannot afford to lose and exit in World Cup or ICC tournaments. When you give too many chances, problems arise. The time has come to provide opportunities to new guys”

Sanju Samson’s performance this year –

Samson has played 6 games in the T20 format for India and scored 179 runs. He scored his maiden half century for India during the T20 tour of Ireland. Samson hasn’t figured in the Indian team list for the tour of Bangladesh.

Speaking further on the topic Sodhi said “Only time will tell how many opportunities and how long he gets. Time is passing and he really has to tighten his shoes. Everything has a limit. You cannot depend on one player for so long. If he is not performing, you got to show him the exit door,”
