Rohit Sharma posts an update on his fitness ahead of the final England test

Indian cricket fans are excited as we are just 3 days away from the start of the rescheduled test against England. Birmingham on Friday will witness the Indian team take the field in test cricket after 4 long months. India will be up against an England side, who have just beaten New Zealand 3-0. Not only did they beat the Kiwis but they did it in a manner which is identical to the theory of Brendon McCullum’s philosophy to play cricket. India currently hold a 2-1 lead in the series with a rare chance to win a series in England.

The story as it happened –

Indian cricket fans were in for a shock when they faced off against Leicester in a warm up game. The shock wasn’t on the field, but off it as Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID. The 35 year old did not bat in the 2nd innings and there were murmurs of him missing the Birmingham test. Mayank Agarwal was called into the Indian team as a back up in case Rohit doesn’t make a recovery. Rohit and Shubman Gill were supposed to open the innings for India.

Rohit Sharma puts out an update –

Rohit Sharma recently put out a story on Instagram where he could be laying relaxed on the bed. He gave a thumbs up to the fans in a selfie clicked by the Indian captain who is in isolation. The picture was tweeted by noted cricket fan’s Twitter account who goes by the name Cric crazy John.


BCCI hopeful of Rohit Sharma’s fitness –

According to sources, even though Agarwal is in England, the team management are hopeful that Rohit Sharma turns the tide as far as his fitness is concerned. Rohit has been in and out of the side for a bit this year owing to his fitness. He had missed the whole South Africa tour and taken a rest for the 5 match T20 series at home against South Africa.
