India and Pakistan may be facing off on the 23rd October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to kick off their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign. The war of words and the mental battles have already begun. Former Pakistani captain and world cup winner and current PCB chief Ramiz Raja has landed himself in a soup. Ramiz Raja recent comments about Virat Kohli hasn't sat down well with some of his own countrymen and has been rightly and soundly thrashed for his comments.
The story as it happened -
Ramiz Raja recently took a dig at Indian cricket star Virat Kohli and the Indian team. The PCB chief said " India then should have been criticised severely for not reaching the final. But that is not what their media do ... I'll tell you when Virat Kohli scored a century against Afghanistan, they forgot their entire Asia Cup... Will we ever do that"
Salman Butt slams Ramiz Raja for his comments -
Former Pakistani captain, Salman Butt though did not take kindly to the comments by ramiz Raja. Butt came out in defense of Virat Kohli and said " There was absolutely no need to take a dig. Aap relevant example b nahi de sakte. Woh duniya ka top player. He's only second man in entire history of cricket jiske 70+ centuries hai. Beherhaal I don't know... He's frustrated. Maybe he's got some news, jo baakiyon ko kuch dino baad milegi. Unhone aur bhi kayi baat ki hai jinka koi mettle ya logic nahi tha. Bas satehi baatein ki hain.
Kohli's recent form with the bat -
Virat Kohli shrugged for nearly 3 years of wait to score a century during the 2022 Asia Cup tournament. Kohli struck his 71st century got India in the final game of the super 4 stages against Afghanistan. Kohli in the recent series against Australia had scored a series clinching 60 odd in the final game at Hyderabad.
The comments by Ramiz Raja is the latest in his slew of comments about the the Indian cricket team and it's board. Be it the comments against IPL versus PSL debate or speaking about BCCI. Ramiz Raja also courted controversy when he recently was seen rudely behaving with a journalist from India post the loss in the final of the 2022 Asia Cup to Sri Lanka.
