Tino Best slams English journalist on Twitter for targeting Virat Kohli post the Birmingham test

v

India lost the 5th and final rescheduled test match against England on Tuesday which was held at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. India held a 2-1 lead over the English side from the series which began in 2021. Spate of COVID cases ahead of the Manchester test saw the postponement on the morning of the game. The Indian team was captained by Kohli back then, who quit the test leadership earlier this year. Rohit Sharma was tested positive for COVID before the game which meant Bumrah was the captain for the game.

The story as it happened –

Virat Kohli kept his bad form with the bat going as he scored a sum total of 31 runs in the game. Kohli was bowled by Potts in the first innings for 11, before being caught by Root off Stokes for 20 in the 2nd dig. The flash point occurred when Kohli was celebrating the fall of Alex Lees in the 2nd innings. Lees was run out for 56 to have England at 109 for 3 and Kohli ran across the pitch to celebrate.

George Dobell tweet causes a stir –

The English media has been going the distance to portray Kohli as a bad guy, when a journalist by the name tweeted a picture. The picture in question was first put up by Dudleyplatypus showing Kohli standing in the middle of the pitch. Dobell took to twitter and wrote “an interesting place to celebrate the wicket of Alex Lees.. “.

Tino Best finds the tweet racist in nature as Dobell reacts –

Former West Indian bowler, Tino Best who was known to bowl ultra quick found the tweet to be in bad taste. The fast bowler also found the tweet to have racial undertones to it. Best while replying to Dobell wrote on Twitter “Bro Y’all reaching now FFS (facepalm emoji). Anyone who’s bold, brown or black y’all always got a damnmmmmm problem with anyone who challenges y’all its an issue, am tired (yawn emoji) of reading the English press talk crap about Virat or any other player who isn’t English. The English journalist suddenly caught on the back foot said “Cmon, Tino. You know me much better than that”

Tino Best has the last word –

Virat Has come in for strong criticism and mocking from the English press and the Barmy Army. The English support group put out a tweet which was rude in nature while having a clear go at Kohli. While responding to George Dobell, the former West Indian quick Tino Best had the last word. Best tweeted “for sure George you’re a real one but the others always reaching from the English commentators etc.. etc.. tell your mate that Virat isn’t a Thug he’s a modern day icon simple…. But then again he isn’t English so we got these type of articles make them grovel (thumbs up emoji”
