Indian cricket team has reached Australia to begin their preparations for the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup. India will be missing the services of their lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah who has been ruled out of the 2022 T20 world cup. The loss of Bumrah has put the spanner in the works for the duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. The coach and captain combine still have to figure out the bowlers who could do the job for India in the death overs which has been a cause of concern.

The story as it happened –

India and South Africa recently played a 3 match T20 series with the 1st game at Kerala. The game got a buzz due to the fact that Jasprit Bumrah had been rested as precaution. The news then came that Bumrah had reactions on his back and there were speculations he might miss the 2022 T20 World Cup. The BCCI just a couple of days ago confirmed the fact that Bumrah was indeed going to miss the world cup.

Wasim Jaffer names his replacement for Bumrah –

Former India opener, Wasim Jaffer has named Deepak Chahar as the bowler whom he would like to see in the World Cup. The 30 year old recently played against Australia and South Africa and was impressive with the ball. Jaffer has named Chahar ahead of the likes of Shami and Siraj.

Here is what Jaffer said –

Speaking to news portal, Jaffer opined “I probably see Deepak Chahar being the replacement. If he (Shami) is selected, he would get a couple of practice matches. But to put him straight into the T20 World Cup without any match practice, it’ll be unfair. So, I think, probably looks like Deepak Chahar might be that replacement”

Will it be the right call?

Deepak Chahar has just made a comeback to the Indian side after a lengthy injury lay off himself. The 30 year old was impressive with the ball during the recent outings for India. Chahar also gives an options lower down the order with the bat for India as he recently scored a 17 ball 31 for India during the final T20 at Indore against South Africa.
