England cricket have entered a new era as far as test cricket is concerned. The English team are the reigning champs in ODI cricket after having won the ODI world cup in 2019. One of the biggest players for that win was Ben Stokes who played a crucial role in the final. Since Root stepped down as the skipper , the 31 year old all-rounder from Durham has taken over the captaincy of the 3 lions. Stokes has begun well with the new England coach and former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum who has taken over the coach of the English side.
Ben Stokes with the most ridiculous run out –
New Zealand had taken a 14 run lead in the first innings, after bowling out the home side for 539. James Anderson got the first strike when he castled Tom Latham for 4 to take his 650th wicket. The moment of the day happened with the score reading 131 for 3 and Will Young batting on 56. The opener tucked a ball from Stokes to the leg side, and there was a stop start hesitation. While Mitchell was quick to respond, it seemed like Young wasn’t too sure with the call. Stokes looked out of place when he got the ball, but he took down the stumps in what can be termed as no-look run out.

Great start to Ben Stokes captaincy career –
Joe Root stepped down as the skipper of the England side post the West Indies tour. England had lost the series away from home and Joe Root decided to relinquish the captaincy. Ben Stokes was appointed the captain along with McCullum as the coach of the side. McCullum had spoke about taking England’s test team to newer heights along with Stokes. The new era began with a 5 wicket win at Lord’s in the first of three tests against New Zealand. The English team have shown some new vigor as they have played aggressive cricket with the bat and ball so far in the series.
