It is time for the white ball format as the Indian and English teams got ready to play the first T20. The Southampton stadium saw a quick pitch and an hungry Indian batting line who were in a positive frame of mind. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. The Indian team gave a debut cap to Arshdeep Singh who became the 99th T20 player for India. The match saw the likes of Kohli, Bumrah and Rishabh Pant being rested as they will be playing the 2nd and 3rd T20.

SKY lights up Southampton with a superb flick shot –

Surya Kumar Yadav who looked rusty in the 2 game T20 series against Ireland was in his elements in the first T20 on Thursday. The moment of the day came Yadav who was batting on 27 played an amazing flick shot against Mills. The ball flew deep into the fine leg boundary for a six much to the delight of the noisy Indian fans. Yadav was in his elements as got off to a quick start before falling for 19 ball 39 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Indian top order gets off to a quick start –

Rohit Sharma seemed to be in a mood to score some quick runs as he hit 5 fours in his 24 run knock. Sharma fell to Moeen Ali caught behind by Jos Buttler after adding 29 runs in just 2.5 overs for the 1st wicket. Ishan Kishan was the next to go for 8 when he was caught by Parkinson to give Ali his 2nd wicket.

Hooda shows his class –

Deepak Hooda has taken a liking to the number 3 spot as he scored a century for India during the 2nd T20 against Ireland. On Thursday he scored 17 ball 33 with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Both the big hits coming off back to back balls of Ali, Hooda and SKY added 43 runs for the 3rd wicket before Hooda was caught at fine leg off Jordan.

Pandya scores his first half century in T20 cricket as India end on 198 –

It was a day to remember for Hardik Pandya as he scored his 1st T20 50 for India off a mere 30 balls. Pandya cut, drove and smashed every bad ball to the fence before falling to Topley. Pandya scored 51 off 32 balls with 6 fours and a six. India ended on 198 for 8 in a ground full of runs with wicket filled with runs.
