The Bangladeshis on the other hand beat Zimbabwe in a close yet dramatic game on Sunday at the Gabba in Brisbane. A win for either side will bolster their chances to make it to the semi final stages of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The story as it happened –

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first as India made one change as they got Axar Patel back into the XI for Deepak Hooda. Dinesh Karthik too kept his place in the XI as he recovered just in time keeping Rishabh Pant on the bench.

Dinesh Karthik gets run out for 7 –

The final ball of the 17th over saw Shoriful Islam bowl to Kohli and the 33 year old drove the ball to extra cover. DK started running to give Kohli on strike as that would have got Kohli on strike. Kohli, though did not respond as he sent Karthik back and the 37 year old made a valiant dive back to the crease. The bowler had dropped the ball but it had hit the stumps as the 3rd umpire gave it out.

DK and VK have an argument –

Dinesh Karthik was livid as he was out for 7 off 5 balls and could have scored more. The veteran wicket keeper was seen having words with his RCB team mate and the duo were indulging in a rather heated and animated conversation before DK made his way off the field.

Rohit fails again as Rahul finally shines –

Rohit Sharma could score only 2 as he offered an easy catch to Yasir Ali to give Bangladesh its first wicket. Kohli and Rahul then combined to add 67 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rahul was in his elements as he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his knock to score 50 off 32 balls.

Kohli scores yet another unbeaten 50 to take India to 184  -

Yadav then joined Kohli as the pair scored 38 runs partnership with Yadav scoring 30 off 16 balls with 4 fours. Yadav had just got to the world number 1 T20I batter mark earlier in the day. Kohli was not out 64 off 44 balls with 8 fours and a six. Ashwin scored 13 off 6 with a four and six as India reached 184 off their 20 overs.

Twitter reacts –

the Indian fans weren’t too happy with the way DK was run out and took to Twitter to have their say on it.
