The first test match between India and Bangladesh has seen India have taken an upper hand. After finishing the 1st day at 278/6, the Indian team scored 404 in their first innings on a unpredictable wicket.

The Indian team had the trio of Pujara with 90 and contributions from Shreyas Iyer and later Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav to thank for reaching 404. The five men ground out the Bangladeshi attack with their dour batting to help India score huge in the first innings of the 1st test.

Umesh Yadav smacks Mehidy Hasan for a huge –

Indian tailenders have been called out for their batting on many occasions. Umesh Yadav though is a different kettle of fish. Walking to bat at the fall of Ashwin, the 35 year old stepped down the track of his 2nd ball. Yadav hit Mehidy Hasan over field to deposit the ball into the stands. The ball had travelled a whopping 100 meters which took everyone by surprise.

Umesh Yadav the spearhead of attack –

The onus of the Indian bowling has fallen on the shoulders of Umesh Yadav with the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad. The 35 year old last played earlier this year in South Africa and did reasonably well with the ball. Yadav so far has played 52 tests in a career spanning 11 years and picked 158 wickets with 3 five wicket hauls and a best of 6/88 vs West Indies in 2018.

Indian seamers dent Bangladesh –

Mohammad Siraj was the man in action as he got Nazmul Shanto out for a golden duck, before Yadav got Yasir Ali’s leg stump take a walk. Bangladesh went to tea at 37 for 2 and lost Liton Das bowled for 24 to Siraj. The 28 year old had given the Bangladeshi batter some lip before the umpires intervened only to get him out the next ball.
