The short India versus Australia series came to an end on Sunday, as India kept their proud home record intact. The 2-1 series win was yet another series win for India in bilateral series. Rohit Sharma the captain too was at his happiest as he had yet another series win under his belt. The game on Sunday, saw India win the game by 6 wickets with a ball to spare.

The incident as it took place –

Australia began their batting stint with aplomb as Cameron Green was flaying the bowlers to all parts. Against the run of play, Australia lost two wickets including that of Green for 52. Maxwell was sent up to bat at 4 and the right hander began with a boundary. In the 8th over, Maxwell while going for a 2nd run, found himself short of the crease after Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik combined to get him run out.

Drama unfolds as Maxwell is given out and the batter loses his cool –

The Indian team went up for an appeal and Maxwell was found well short of his crease. Drama began, when it was seen Karthik had seemingly dislodged the stumps with his gloves. As per the rule, even though one bail was off the groove the other was still in place. The 2nd bail was only off the groove when the ball and DK made contact with it and Maxwell was run out for 6. Maxwell was getting ready for the next ball but had shock on his face when he was given out by the 3rd umpire and he was seen to be angry.

Indian batters come to the fore –

Chasing 187 to win, KL Rahul was out early for 1, while Rohit Sharma fell for 17. It took a 104 run stand between Surya Kumar Yadav and Kohli to get India back into the game. SKY scored 69 0ff 36 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes, while Kohli scored 63 off 48 with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Hardik Pandya hit the 2nd last ball for a 4 courtesy of a thick edge which eluded a diving Matthew Wade to give India the win. Pandya was not out on 25 off 16 balls with 2 fours and a six.
