Beleaguered Sri Lanka is finally having some reason to smile after the 6 wicket win over Australia on Sunday in the 3rd ODI. This is the first time Australia have lost two back to back games to Sri Lanka for over 20 years. Sri Lanka which is ravaged with economic crisis the win over Australia comes as a slight diversion from the struggles faced by normal Sri Lankans. Amidst all the drama on and off the field, the cricketing world witnessed a hilarious moment on the field which has taken the internet by storm.

Umpire Kumar Dharmasena’s hilarious attempt to take a catch –

Australia came into the 3rd game on Sunday with the series levelled at 1-1. The visitors had a slew of injuries which forced some of the Australia A players to be drafted into the side. The moment of the game though came when the official Twitter handle of Cricket Australia posted a picture of Sri Lankan umpire, Kumar Dharmasena look like he is about to take a catch. Cricket Australia captioned it and wrote “Catch! Umpire Kumar Dharmasena looks like he wants to get into action… thankfully he didn’t #SLvsAUS”


Travis Head and Aaron Finch power Australia to 291 –

Batting first, Australia lost the wicket of Warner early for 6 with the score reading 14. Mitchell Marsh scored 10 before falling to Wellalage. Labuschagne and Finch added 69 for the 3rd wicket, with Labuschagne getting dismissed for 29. Aaron Finch was out next for 62 off 85 balls to have Australia at 121 for 4. Alex Carey and Travis Head then forged a 72 run stand. Carey was out for 49 against the run of play falling to Dhananjaya De Silva. Glenn Maxwell then came out and smacked a 18 ball 33 with 3 fours and a six. Cameron Green was not out on 15, Travis Head though was the star of the show with 70 not out of 65 balls.

Pathum Nissanka century powers the Lankans to a win –

Chasing 292 to win, Niroshan Dickwella was promoted to top of the order as the openers added 42 for the opening wicket. Dickwella was out for 25 off 26 balls before getting bowled by Maxwell. Nissanka and Kusal Mendis then forged a 213 run stand before Mendis had to get retired hurt for 87 off 85 balls. Nissanka was the star of the show as he scored his first ODI ton and ended his innings on 137 off 147 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Sri Lanka stumbled with 2 wickets in quick succession, but Charith Asalanka took the team home with 6 wickets in hand and 9 balls to go.
