Watch! Huge controversy erupts as Shakib Al Hasan is given a dodgy LBW decision

Pakistan and Bangladesh were given a huge lease of life in the early hours of Sunday. Netherlands had shocked the world when they beat South Africa by 13 runs. This result had two implications as first South Africa were knocked out of the tournament. Secondly this gave both Bangladesh and Pakistan a chance to make their place in the final 4 sure as this was now a virtual quarter final game for the two teams. The two subcontinent teams haven't had the best of Super 12 stage during the ongoing 2022 T20 World Cup campaign.

The story as it happened -

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch which was dry and slow. The Adelaide oval had earlier seen the Netherlands team cause the biggest shock of the tournament by beating South Africa to knock them out of the world cup.

Bangladesh came into the game on the back of a close loss to India at the same venue. The match saw controversy when rain and few claims of fake fielding came to light.

Pakistan on the other hand had beaten south African team on the duckworth Lewis method by 33 runs at the Sydney cricket ground earlier this week.

Dodgy umpiring yet again -

The T20 World Cup 2022 has seen a lot of controversies as far as umpiring is concerned. On Sunday Shakib Al Hasan was at the recieving end of yet another decision which has raised the eyebrows of the fans and experts alike. Shadab Khan had struck with the key wicket of Soumya Sarkar the previous ball. In walked captain Shakib Al Hasan to give his team the much needed boost

The very first ball Shakib Al Hasan walked down the wicket. There was a huge appeal for LBW and the umpire gave it out. Shakib Al Hasan had a look of disbelief on his face and went up for the DRS call. The fact that he had walked down the wicket was also of huge interest but also the fact that there seemed to be an inside edge on to the bat.

The third umpire seemed to think there was no edge on to the bat and since the onfield decision was given out the third umpire too gave it out. This got huge boos from the crowd as the shocked Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan made his way back to the hut for a first ball duck.

Disciplined Pakistan restrictel Bangladesh to 127

Batting first after winning the toss, Nazmul Shanto top scored with 54 off 48 balls with 7 fours in his innings. Afif Hossain with 24 and Soumya Sarkar with 20 were the other top scorers. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked 4/22 as Shadab Khan picked 2 wickets while Iftikhar Ahmed and Haris Rauf picked a wicket each.
