Indian cricket team and its fans are looking forward to defending their crown, when they take to the field on Sunday. The match on Sunday, will be seeing India and Pakistan butt heads after nearly a year. The last time both the teams met, was in Dubai International stadium. The two teams met during the T20 world cup which was held in UAE after India had to move the tournament to the middle east after the 2nd wave of COVID-19 played havoc with the 2nd wave last year.

India were dealt with a huge blow, when it came to light that Jasprit Bumrah, the leading Indian pacer will miss the Asia Cup. Alongside Bumrah, even noted pacer Harshal Patel has been ruled out of the tournament. The reason for Bumrah missing the tournament is spasms in the back which had been affecting him. Bumrah was last seen during the England tour, where he played the first two ODI games picking a 6fer in the 1st ODI at Oval.

Bumrah is currently in the NCA, where he is working hard to come back to fitness. The 29 year old fast bowler took to Instagram and posted a short video. Bumrah could be seen running and jumping a hurdle. He could also be seen working on his back by bouncing a gym ball hard into the pitch from the bowling crease. Bumrah took to Instagram and wrote “No hurdle big enough”.

Yet another player who is on the ,mend is none other than, Harshal Patel who is also injured. The 31 year old medium pacer did not play during the recent tour of West Indies and was ruled out of the T20 series. It later came to light that, Harshal Patel too would be missing from the squad which is set to play the Asia Cup.

The Indian fans will hope the duo can make a swift return as the T20 world cup looms large on India. The 2007 champs are clubbed with Pakistan like in 2021’s T20 world cup. Bumrah and Patel will be a huge component for Rohit Sharma and his team if he has to win the title for the nation and the fans.
