The legend of England and Joe Root keeps growing as the three lions beat the Indian team by 7 wickets. This finally finishes the series which began last July in what was a 5 match test series. Then first 4 matches were played last year with India holding a 2-1 series lead. The final test at Manchester was postponed as COVID cases hit the Indian camp. The final test was rescheduled for 1st July with the venue now being Edgbaston in Birmingham. The match witnessed quality cricket as the two teams slugged it on the ground.
Joe Root shocks Shardul Thakur –
England began day 5 off the test match with 7 wickets in hand and needing 119 runs for a famous win. The English batsmen made merry against the toothless Indian attack on the final day as the won before the lunch break. The moment of the day came with the score read 336 with England needing 42 runs more. Joe Root was facing off against Shardul Thakur who bowled a loopy seamer outside off stump. Joe Root who was on 119 went down on one knee and reverse scooped the bowler for a huge six. This was the 2nd time Root had done this after he had scooped Tim Southee for a six.
Just a reverse scoop for 6️⃣ off a seamer while we chase a record total 🤯
