Sher – E- Bangla stadium at Mirpur witnessed the 2nd game of the 3 match ODI series being played on Wednesday. The match was important for India as they were already 1-0 down in the series. Bangladesh beat the visitors with 1 wicket in hand on Sunday against all odds to take the early lead in the series.

The Story As It Happened -

Indian team lost the services of their captain Rohit Sharma early due to a finger injury he suffered during fielding. Rohit had got hit on his finger while going for a catch off Siraj to dismiss Anamul Haque in the 2nd over of the day.

KL Rahul takes an amazing catch behind the wickets –

Once Rohit Sharma was off the field, the onus of captaincy fell on the shoulders of KL Rahul. The 30 year old has been entrusted with the gloves as Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the ODI series.

Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan joined forces when the score was reading 69/6. The pair added 148 runs for the 7th wicket as the veteran Mahmudullah scored 77 off 96 balls with 7 fours. He was dismissed when he got a thick edge off the bowling off Umran Malik only to see KL Rahul fly to his right and take an amazing catch.

Mehidy Hasan’s maiden century helps Bangladesh reach 271 –

Indian bowlers had the home team on the mat with the score reading 69/6 when Mehidy Hasan came into bat. Mehidy was the hero of the 1st game after having scored 38 not out off 39 balls.

Mehidy scored his maiden ODI century as he ended with 100 not out off 83 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. The 25 year old helped the home team scorw 68 runs in 30 balls to help them reach a good looking 271 for 7 from their 50 overs.

At the time of writing India was 14/2 with Kohli having fallen for 5 and Dhawan falling for 8. Rohit hadn’t come out to bat due to the injury suffered early in the day.
