Australia and West Indies have started their preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup with a short 2 match T20 series. Both the games are being played at Brisbane, with the first game played on Wednesday day at the Carrara Oval. This series is the final chance of warm up for the defending world champions. West Indies on the other hand have to go through the qualifiers which begins from the 16th of October.

Kyle Mayers goes big over sweeper cover with 105 Meter six –

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Carrara Oval at Brisbane. Australia for the first time are hosting the T20 World Cup. Cameron Green bowling the 4th over saw Kyle Mayers play a mind-blowing shot. The left handed opener went onto his back foot to hit a six into the 2nd tier of the empty ground over the sweeper cover region to leave the Australian players stunned.

Australian bowlers restrict West Indies to mere 145 –

Put into bat 1st, West Indies got off to a bright start by adding 14 runs for the 1st wicket in just the first over. The 1st ball of the 2nd over saw Johnson Charles fall for 3, bowled by Hazlewood. King and Mayers added 34 runs in quick time for the 2nd wicket in mere 25 balls. King, fresh from a match winning innings in the CPL final became the 2nd wicket for Hazlewood.

Pat Cummins got the wicket of Mayers for 39 off 36 balls, while captain Pooran was out LBW to Starc for 2. Raymon Reifer with 19 off 23 and Jason Holder with 13 off 7, were the contributors. Odean Smith then batting at 8 scored 27 off 17 balls with 3 fours and a six to become the 2nd highest scorer for the West Indians to lead them to 145/9.

West Indian pacers strike early –

Chasing 146 to win, Australia went in with Cameron Green and David Warner as the openers. Both the openers scored 14 apiece, with Green falling to Alzarri Joseph, while Sheldon Cottrell removed Warner and Mitchell Marsh (3). Aaron Finch pushed himself to number 4 in the batting order and was 40 not out at the time of writing. Glenn Maxwell and Tim David both fell for ducks to leave Australia in a spot of bother at 58/5.
