It was a comprehensive win for India in the 1st test Chattorgram. The Indian team won the 1st test by 188 runs. The win arrived with an hour’s play on the final day, as this enabled the Indian team to take 1-0 lead in the 2 match series.
It was a comprehensive performance by the Indian team in all departments of the game. The batting came to the fore thanks to centuries from Pujara and Gill, while Iyer played a crucial knock of 86 in the 1st dig.
The story so far –
Mohammad Siraj has been impressing one and all with his skills with the ball in the red ball format. Since his debut in late 2020 in Australia, the 28 year old from Hyderabad has played a huge role in many Indian wins. Siraj is a fierce competitor on the field and this has seen him engage in some verbal duels with many opposition players.
Siraj gives Nazmul Shanto the lip –
Nazmul Shanto and Zakir Hasan were frustrating the Indian bowlers with their 124 run stand. Rahul tried every possible bowler but couldn’t get the breakthrough that he wanted.
The incident in question happened in the 34th innings with the home team on 93/0 still needing 420 runs more to chase. Siraj was seen saying something to Shanto and the batter did not respond.

Siraj unsettles Liton Das and gets him out next ball –
Liton Das was showing his full attacking intent during the 1st innings reaching 24 runs off 29 balls. That’s when Siraj went up to Das and said a few words before the umpires came in the middle. At the end of the day Siraj said “I told him this isn’t T20 cricket play sensibly”. The very next ball, Siraj had his man when Das chopped one back onto his stumps to be dismissed for 24.

Siraj gets India the early wicket on the final day –
Bangladesh ended day 4 at 272/6 still needing 241 runs on the final day for an improbable win. Shakib Al Hasan was on 40 and Mehidy Hasan on 9 heading into day 5. Mehidy Hasan began the final day with a crunching drive to get going off Siraj. The Indian bowler then bowled one wide to have Mehidy slashing one to be caught by Umesh Yadav for 13 to give India its 1st wicket of the day.
Kuldeep and Axar finish the proceedings early –
Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan looked to be in an aggressive frame of mind. Shakib scored 84 runs off 108 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes, taking particular liking to Axar Patel. This made India skipper KL Rahul bring Kuldeep Yadav into the attack.
Yadav flighted one ball to have Shakib go for a huge swing and was bowled for 84. Yadav got his 3rd wicket of the day when he had Ebadot Hossain giving a simple catch to forward short leg fielder Shreyas Iyer for 1. The match ended when Patel got his 4th wicket of the innings when he bowled Taijul Islam for 4.
Kuldeep Yadav was given the player of the match for his 8 wickets in the game.
