India won the second ODI by 7 wickets to level the 3 match series at 1-1. India chasing 278 were helped to the win with 25 balls to spare by Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. The final game will be played on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium at New Delhi. It was as a day to remember for the fans who had come to see the game at Ranchi as the indian batting finally came to the fore.
The story as it happened -
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first and made to changes to their team. Bavuma and Shamsi were out and in came Reeza Hendricks and Bjorn Fortuin. India rested ruturaj gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi for the game. In their place came Washington Sundar who has replaced Deepak chahar and Shahbaz Ahmed who made his India debut.
Siraj's cheeky attempt costs India runs -
The incident In question happened during the 48th over of the South African innings. Keshav Maharaj was on strike and he missed a full ball from Siraj. Wicket keeper Sanju Samson collected the ball and lobbed it back to the bowler. Siraj spotted David Miller out of his crease at this point. The Indian bowler tried to be cheeky and run out the south African batter. The ball not only missed the stump but also spend to the boundary for a four. The umpire Virender Sharma signalled a four, to leave Shikhar Dhawan and Mohammad Siraj arguing with the umpire.
South African middle order helps them reach 277-
Quinton De Kick and Janneman Malan came out to open the innings. Siraj made initial inroads when he has De Kock dragging the ball on yo his stumps for 5. Malan was next to go for 25 when he became Shahbaz Ahmed's first ODI wicket for 25. Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks then rebuilt the innings with 129 tin stand for the 3rd wicket. Both the batters came out to bat aggressively once they had their eyes set. Hendricks scored 74, while Markram scored 76 while adding 46 runs more fot the 4th wicket. Markram was out for 76, while Klassen scored 30 off 26 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. David Miller stayed unbeaten on 35 to help SA reach 277 on the board.
India lose their openers early -
Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill had a loot outing at Lucknow in the first game. The pair has been in good form during the tours of West Indies and Zimbabwe. On Sunday the duo of Dhawan and Gill had another bad day at the office. Dhawan was seen giving Parnell the charge and saw his off stump lay flat on the ground for 13. Gill was playing well on 26 before Kagiso Rabada took a sharp return catch to send Gill back to the hut for 26 to leave India in trouble at 48 for 2.
Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer knock the fight out of South Africa -
Ishan Kishan came to the wicket to join Shreyas Iyer to the delight of his home fans in Ranchi. After seeing out a few overs, the left and right hand duo added 161 for the third wicket stand. Kishan was severe on Keshav Maharaj slamming for sixes at will. Kishan was aggressive on anything short or wife. Kishan scored 93 off 84 balls with 4 fours and 7 huge sixes. Iyer was the man of the moment as he scored his second ODI century for India. Iyer was not out on 113 off 111 balls with 15 fours. Iyer looked assured throughout the innings and wasn't troubled by the short balls that came his way. Sanju Samson was not out on 30 off 36 as India coasted to an easy win.
