Just a week after the controversial run out effected by Deepti Sharma, the Indian Womenโ€™s cricket team found themselves in more drama. This time Pooja Vastrakar was at the forefront of all the drama against the Sri Lankan Womenโ€™s team.

The story as it happened โ€“

Indian Womenโ€™s team is in Bangladesh to play the 2022 Asia Cup T20 tournament for Women. The first match for team was against Sri Lanka at the Sylhet outer cricket stadium. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first, and the drama unfolded towards the back end of the Indian innings.

3rd umpire gives Indian batter a controversial decision โ€“

Cricket world was left stunned as 3rd umpire Shivani Mishra created a huge controversy on Saturday. The incident happened in the 20th over of the innings when Pooja Vastrakar hit the ball to the offside. By the time the throw could come in she had seemingly made her ground. The Sri Lankans appealed as the commentators said the Indian had made her ground with ease.

Pooja Vastrakar had slid the bat in the crease with ease and the commentators had felt she had made it back in time. Once the decision came on the big screen even the commentators were taken aback and couldnโ€™t believe and had to check twice if what they were seeing was true.

Jemimah Rodrigues leads India to 150 โ€“

Put into bat 1st, Shafali Varma and Smriti Mandhana scored 10 and 6 respectively to leave India at 23 for 2. It was the 92 run stand for the 3rd wicket between captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Rodrigues which bought India back into the game. Kaur scored 33 off 30 balls with 2 fours and a six, while Rodrigues was the top scorer with 76 off 53 balls with 11 fours and a six. This helped India reach 150 on the board with the loss of 6 wickets.

India bowl out Sri Lanka for 109 โ€“

Chasing 151 to win, the Sri Lankan women were always in a spot of bother against the penetrative Indian bowling. Hasini Perera with 30, Harshita Madvi with 26 and Oshadi Ranasinghe with 11 were the only 3 batters who could get to double figures. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 109 as Dayalan Hemalatha picked 3, Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar picked 2 while Radha Yadav picked 1.
