Watch! Nicolas Poorans agile fielding had a lazy Shubman Gill in trouble

Admist all the talk of ODI cricket Dying or the need for it to be scrapped, India and West Indies played a game for the ages. India posted a massive 308 on the board, before West Indies ran them close with 305 runs to lose the game by mere 3 runs. West Indies came to the game after having lost former skipper Jason Holder due to testing positive for COVID. The home side had lost their last ODI series to Bangladesh not long ago. Indian team to were without some of the big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant amongst others. The captain of the side was Shikhar Dhawan. 

Dhawan and Gill start briskly - 

Put into bat, India got a terrific start when Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan added 116 for the first wicket. The duo were aggressive on anything short, full or wide. Gill in particular was severe on Alzzari Joseph who conceded 25 runs from his first 3 overs. Gill was aggressive against the new ball bowlers and reached his first ODI half century for India. 

Pooran's agility has Gill in trouble - 

With the first wicket stand already past 100, the Indian openers were looking to push the advantage. That's when Gill got a short ball and he jumped on his toes to fend it to the leg side . Gill was lethargic to start for the single and Nicolas Pooran was quick to swoop onto the ball. The West Indies captain picked up the ball and threw the stumps down. Gill was caught short of the crease and was run out for 64. 

Dhawan misses out on 100 - 

Shikhar Dhawan was joined by Shreyas Iyer and the pair took the score past 200. The duo wanted to accelerate the scoring rate post the second drinks break. Dhawan swung Motie for a huge six over the leg side boundary. The next ball, Dhawan went for a cut and was caught by Brooks for 97.
