It was a fabulous start to the rescheduled final test between India and England at the Edgbaston cricket ground on Friday. India ended the day at 338 for 7 after a fabulous 6th wicket stand between Pant and Jadeja, that pulled India out of trouble. India walked into the game with a new test captain In Bumrah. The 28 year old replaced Rohit Sharma who was ruled out due to COVID. England won the toss and opted to bowl first on a pitch which was expected to aid the swing and seam bowling of England.
Rishabh Pantβs one handed six flies a long way β
Rishabh Pant has always been known to be a great batsman against the spin bowlers. Jack Leach found this the hard way as he was smacked for 71 runs from 9 overs. Pant was unrelenting against the left arm spinner during his knock and took him to the cleaners. The moment of the day came when Pant came down the track and took one hand off the handle and smacked the ball deep into the crowd. The ball flew deep and was measured at a massive 101 meter six.

Pant leaves England gasping with a brutal counter attack β
It was similar script for India against the seam bowling of Anderson, Broad and Potts. The Indian team were placed at 98 for 5 after 28 overs with Gill, Pujara, VIhari, Kohli and Iyer all gone for less than 20. Thatβs when Jadeja joined Pant in the middle and changed the look of the entire game. Pant took the bull by its horns and went after the English bowlers. Pant got to his 5th test century from a mere 89 balls and scored his next 46 runs from 22 balls. Pant was out for 146 from just 111 balls with 18 fours and 3 sixes. He got a standing ovation from the England fans as he single handedly took India out of the woods.
At the end of the day India were 338 for 7 with Jadeja on 83 not out looking for his 3rd test century along with Shami who is yet to open his account from 11 balls.
