India and South Africa face off each for the 3rd time during the 2022 calendar year. South Africa were in India for a 5 match T20 series post the TATA IPL 2022 season., the series ended with score-line being 2-2 and the final match at Bangalore was washed out due to rain. This time the men from the rainbow nation will be playing 3 games of T20 and ODI games.
The story as it happened –
India won the toss and chose to bowl first as the pitch at Kerala promised something in it for the fast bowlers. India suffered a blow when it came to light that Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the 1st game. The pacer had complained of back pain ahead of the game during the practice early on Tuesday. Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Ashwin and Pant came in to the playing 11.
Bavuma castles by a Chahar classic –
Quinton De Kock and Temba Bavuma opened the batting as the South African skipper made a return to the team after nearly 3 months out. The first over was bowled by Chahar as he was thrown the new ball by Rohit Sharma. Chahar kept bowling out swingers before he had one ball coming in and it beat Bavuma and castled him for 0.

Indian captain, Rohit Sharma was spotted running in to congratulate Chahar post the fall of the wicket. The Indian captain was seen showing his appreciation to the ball by Chahar while speaking to wicket keeper Rishabh Pant. The captain and wicket keeper duo were seen celebrating the wicket of Bavuma along with Chahar.

Chahar picks 2/24 –
Rohit Sharma gave Deepak Chahar 3 overs at the top before giving the ball to bowl the 10th over. Chahar picked the wicket of big hitting youngster Tristan Stubbs for a 1st ball duck. Stubbs went for upper cut off Chahar to a ball which bounced a lot more than what was expected. Arshdeep took a good catch which was dying down on him to have the South Africans in trouble.
