Watch! Sarfaraz Khan makes a huge statement on Surya Kumar Yadav’s selection in the test team

Indian cricket at one point was known for backing the best domestic performers. The change in mentality from the selectors has now seen some of the best performers get sidelined. Sarfaraz Khan is one name who has been missing out on selection despite piling on the runs in domestic cricket. The 25 year old has been in the news for his heartbreaking rejection time and again.

The story so far –

Since the end of 2019 till the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, Sarfaraz Khan has outscored many a batting “stalwart” even in the Indian team. The youngster has scored runs by the truckloads for Mumbai. Despite this, he wasn’t picked for the Bangladesh or the upcoming Australia series. 32 year old white ball specialist, Surya Kumar Yadav has earned a call to the Indian team for the first 2 tests of the 4 match test series.

Sarfaraz speaks on Yadav’s selection –

Surya Kumar Yadav was in good with the bat in the 2 Ranji games he played for Mumbai this season. journalist Vimal Kumar asked the 25 year old, about his thoughts on Yadav’s selection to which he said “Obviously it is (on his selection being inspirational). Suryakumar is a good friend of mine. And we spend a lot of time together when we are in the team together. I get to learn a lot of things from him. He had to wait for a long time but the way he has been playing, he has taken on his experience together, so that makes things easy,”

Young talent getting sidelined –

Newly elected chairman of selectors, Chetan Sharma had apparently told Sarfaraz Khan that he will be picked for the Bangladesh tour. Despite the heavy run scoring, the 25 year old from Mumbai did not get a place in the team. Sarfaraz was then told that he will be picked for the Australian series but he did not find his name in the squad.

Khan now has a good chance to prove his worth when he plays against Maharashtra at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. This is a make or break game for Mumbai and they need to take all the points in a bid to make it to the quarter final stage of the tournament. One more big knock and the selectors will not be able to ignore this classy young batting sensation.
