West Indies began their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign with a shock loss to Scotland. This was the 2nd upset of the tournament after Sri Lanka had lost to Namibia in the first game of the tournament on Sunday. West Indies lost by 42 runs as it puts a huge jeopardy. There was a moment that happened during the game that left everyone scared.

Young child falls off the railing –

The matches at Hobart at the Bellerive Oval have a vast mass of grass banks. The qualifying matches between Scotland, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland were played at the same venue on Monday.

During the course of the West Indian batting, with Nicolas Pooran on strike, there was a small child reeling over the railing. Just before his father could react, the child was seen taking a fall and the father was shocked at this and couldn’t do much as it was too late to reach.


Scotland reach 160 thanks to George Munsey

West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. George Munsey was the top scorer for Scotland. Munsey, carried his bat scoring 66 off 53 balls with 9 fours in his innings. Michael Jones with 20, Berrington the skipper with 16 and 23 by MacLeod helped Scotland reach a decent 160 on the board.

Jason Holder’s 38 the sole bright spark in loss for WI –

Chasing 161 to win, the two time world T20 champs West Indies were bowled out for 118. Jason holder was the top scorer with 38 off 33 balls with 4 fours and a six. Mayers (20), Lewis (14) and King (17) were the only batters to hit double figures. Mark Watt with 3/12 did the damage with the ball for Scotland.  

West Indies next play their next two games against Zimbabwe and Ireland. The 2012 and 2016 champs have to win both their games in a bid to qualify for the Super 123 stage. In the other game on Monday, Zimbabwe beat Ireland by 31 runs thanks to amazing batting performance by Sikander Raza.
