Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the 2022 T20 World Cup to begin as they want to end the eternal wait for an ICC title come their way. India have already touched down in Australia where this year’s T20 World Cup is to be held. Australia was originally supposed to host in 2020. The COVID pandemic though put paid to those hopes back then. One of the biggest players the world will be looking at is India’s run machine Virat Kohli.
The story as it happened –
Virat Kohli will be playing his 5th ICC World T20 this year in Australia. The 34 year old first made his ICC T20 Debut for India in Sri Lanka under MS Dhoni. Last year under his captaincy India suffered two early reversals to be dumped out of the tournament early. Kohli, before the start of tournament had decided to step down as the skipper. With Kohli now finding his form, whole of India will be waiting with bated breath to watch him bat.

The official broadcaster of the 2022 T20 World Cup, Star Sports India have come up with a special video for the Indian team. the video begins with the Male Voice Over talking about the 15 year wait for the World Cup. The minute long video then has Kohli make an appearance during the 45th second mark. The former India skipper can be seen driving a bus or in literal terms pull the wagon of a billion hopes. Star Sports India ended the video with the Tag Line – “End the wait”

15 year wait indeed –
T20 World Cup was 1st played in 2007 when a young and youthful Indian side under MS Dhoni went to South Africa. Against all odds, India reached the final and beat Pakistan to win the title by 5 years. India last came close to winning the title in 2014, when they lost to Sri Lanka in the final. The Indian team also reached the semi finals in 2016 when the tournament was played in India before losing to eventual champions West Indies.
