Watch! Suresh Raina takes a blinder of a catch to dismiss Ben Dunk


Road Safety World Series 2022 is in the final stages of its league stages with the matches now heading to Cuttack. Indian Legends took on Australian Legends as Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Watson faced off each other for the first time during this year’s tournament. The Indian legends team are currently 2nd in the table 4 points behind Sri Lanka. Australia are 3rd, while West Indies are 4th.

The story as it happened –

Suresh Raina few weeks back retired from all forms of cricket and stated his desire to play the overseas leagues. The 35 year old also got himself enrolled for the Road Safety World Series to play alongside Sachin Tendulkar. Raina so far has been impressive with the bat and has contributed crucial runs for the Indian team.

Raina plucks out a blinder of a catch –

Batting first, Australia legends were putting the Indian legends bowlers to the sword. Ben Dunk in particular was enjoying his outing at Cuttack as he had smashed 46 off mere 25 balls with 5 fours and 2 massive sixes. Abhimanyu Mithun got Dunk slicing at a delivery bowled wide outside off stump. The ball was screaming past the point region and was destined to go for a 4. That’s when Raina leapt to his left and took a stunning catch.

Australia scores 136 for 5 before rain stops play –

Indian legends won the toss and put the Australians to bat as dew was going to play a huge role. Shane Watson the Australian captain opened with Alex Doolan and the pair added 60 for the 1st wicket. Both the batters seemed at ease with the ball coming onto the bat pretty nicely. Both the openers put the bad balls away for boundaries.

Regular wickets hurt Australia –

Indian spinner got the Indian legends back in the game, Rahul Sharma had the 1st scalp when he had Watson caught by Raina for 30. Yusuf Pathan then had Alex Doolan stumped for 35. Pathan struck once again when he had Callum Ferguson caught by Tendulkar for 10. Mithun then struck when he had Nathan Reardon edging behind to Naman Ojha for 5.

The rain came down at the end of the 17th over and the Australians were 136 for 5 with Cameron White on 6 along with Brad Haddin on 1. The match will be continued from the same point on Thursday 29th September,2022. The match begins at 330 PM IST.
