Watch! Twitter left confused after Shakib AL Hasan’s reluctance to opt for DRS

Thursday saw three games being played in the 2nd Group of the Super 12 stages. The first game of the day saw South Africa and Bangladesh lock horns at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The match began with rain playing hide and seek as the game saw two interruptions, in what was an important game for both the teams coming into their 2nd game.

The story so far –

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first on a pitch with lots of runs on offer. Bangladesh came into the game with a win over Netherlands, while South Africa had to share their points with Zimbabwe after their game had been rained off.

Shakib Al Hasan decides to walk bizarrely and not go for DRS –

The moment of the game happened in the 5th over of the Bangladeshi innings with Shakib Al Hasan the skipper facing Nortje. The bowler came round the wicket and rapped Hasan on the pads and went up for appeal. The umpire put his finger up to give it out.

Shakib walked off without going for DRS, but the matters got more Bizarre when the replays came it showed that the ball was not only missing the stumps but also had pitched outside leg. As the law states, any ball pitching outside leg stump is not out.

Rilee Rossouw wrecks havoc at SCG –

Temba Bavuma fell early for 2 when he was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed. That’s the only bright spark for Bangladesh as De Kock and Rossouw added 168 for the 2nd wicket. Rossouw scored his 2nd consecutive century for South Africa in T20I cricket.

Rossouw scored 109 off 56 balls with 7 fours and 8 sixes, while De Kock scored 63 off 38 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. This enabled South Africa to score a massive 205/5 on the board.

Anrich Nortje rips through the Bangladeshi batting –

Chasing 206 to win, wasn’t going to easy for the Bangladeshi players as Anrich Nortje picked 4/10 with hostile seam bowling. Liton Das with 34 off 31 balls with a four and six was the top scorer for Bangladesh who were bowled out for mere 101 in 16.3 overs. Tabriz Shamsi picked 3/20 to be the 2nd best bowler for South Africa who ran out winners by 104 runs.
