Melbourne cricket ground was jam packed as they thronged to see the age old rivalry between India and Pakistan. The two sides met for the 3rd time this year, with the first two games played during the 2022 Asia Cup at UAE. India and Pakistan both won a game each with India knocked out in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. The stage was set as both the teams were ready to get their campaign underway for the T20 World Cup 2022.

Spider Cam robs India 1 wicket –

Ravichandran Ashwin was bowling to Shan Masood who had seen wickets tumble in a hurry at the other end. The incident happened in then 15th over’s 3rd ball as Masood went for a huge hit and the ball landed in the no-man’s land. Virat Kohli signalled it had hit the Spider camera as skipper Rohit Sharma was seen having a go at the camera and chatting to umpire Rod Tucker. The ball was called dead ball thus robbing India a wicket.

India strike early but Iftikhar Fights back with a 50 –

India won the toss and chose to bowl as Arshdeep Singh in the first ball of his over to get rid of Babar Azam for a golden duck. The left arm struck again when he had Rizwan caught by Kumar for 4 to leave Pakistan at 15/2. This got Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood together. The pair added 76 runs for the 3rd wicket. Ahmed went after Axar Patel and smacked him for 3 sixes to reach his half century.

Pakistan loses flurry of wickets –

Mohammad Shami was given the ball as he had Ahmed trapped LBW for 51. Hardik Pandya then struck twice in a single over to dismiss Shadab Khan and Haider Ali to leave Pakistan tottering at 98 for 5. Pandya then got his 3rd when he had Nawaz caught behind by Kartik as Pakistan slid to 115 for 6.

Masood guides Pakistan to 159 –

Shan Masood stayed strong as he stroke a valuable 50 and helped Pakistan reach 159. Masood’s runs came off 42 ball as he stayed not out with 5 fours to his name. Arshdeep with 3 wickets was the lead wicket taker for India. Afridi scored 16 off 8 and swung his bat around to give Pakistan some useful runs in the lower order. Pandya bowled 4 overs and picked 3/30.
