Pace bowling was never India’s forte for nearly over 5 decades till the arrival of Kapil Dev. Over the last few years, the Indian team has seen a plethora of fast bowling talents come through. The men in blue now possess some of the fastest bowlers and the most skilled bowlers currently in the game.

The story so far –

Umran Malik the 23 year old from Jammu and Kashmir grabbed the attention of the fans during the IPL 2021 season. Coming in as a replacement for Natarajan in 2021, the youngster rocked the speed guns by clocking over 150 KPH consistently. This helped Malik to be retained by SRH for the TATA IPL 2022 season by SRH where he impressed yet again by bowling a ball at 157 KPH.

Shakib Al Hasan left fearing for his life –

Umran Malik was got into bowl by stand in skipper KL Rahul in the 12th over of the innings to Shakib Al Hasan. The first ball was defended well by the veteran former Bangladeshi skipper. 2nd ball of the over saw Shakib misread the line and get hit on his ribs by the pace of Malik.

The 3rd ball was again a short ball which was ducked under by Shakib and carried through to KL Rahul. By the time the 4th ball was bowled, Shakib was giving himself room to hit Malik only to find the fielder at cover. The penultimate ball saw the left hander give room yet again and mistime the shot. The final ball of the over saw Shakib get hit on his helmet.

Impressive day for Umran Malik –

Malik was the star of the Indian bowling as he picked 2 wickets during his ten over spell. He first castled Shanto to a ball which was clocked at 151 KPH, then towards the back end of the innings he got the wicket of Mahmudullah for 77. The 22 year old pacer finished with 2 for 58 from his ten overs which also had 2 maiden overs.
