J

Indian team led by Rohit Sharma has touched down in Australia for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Team India are practicing at the iconic WACA ground in Perth ahead of the two practice fixtures against Western Australia XI.

WACA was once known as the fastest pitch in the world, as it was a haven for Fast Bowling. While the Indian team was sweating it out in the nets, the eyes of the world was on one man and it was none other than former India skipper Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli caught timing the ball to perfection in the nets-

Virat Kohli might have given the final T20I against South Africa at Indore a miss, but his form in the nets had the fans buzzing. The former India skipper was seen batting in the nets with full vigor. Twitter user posted a short 30 second video of Kohli, first playing the pull shot followed by a flick down the leg side and then a beautifully timed drive. KL Rahul could be seen batting at the adjoining nets as well towards the end of the video.

India to play two warm up games –

India is slated to take on the Western Australia XI in their first official practice match before the 2022 T20 World Cup. The match will be played at WACA 4 PM Indian Standard Time. Western Australia and India play two warm games both at WACA on the 10th and 13th of October. India will then take on Australia and New Zealand in the two ICC warm up games before they take on Pakistan on 23rd October at the MCG.

Mohammad Shami all but confirmed to be the replacement player –

The BCCI on Sunday is set to announce fast bowler Mohammad Shami as the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. The 32 year will fly down to Australia and most likely start training at the right earnest. Shami is just coming back from suffering a bout of COVID after he was tested positive ahead of the Australia series at home. Bumrah is ruled out of the 2022 T20 world cup due to a back stress reaction and is expected to miss a few weeks of action.
