Watch! Virat Kohli loses his patience with Nazmul Shanto during the 2nd test

N

India and Bangladesh are engaged in tooth and nail battle to win the 2nd test. A win for the visitors, not only gives them a series win but also crucial points for qualification for the finals of WTC. A win for the hosts meanwhile will be their 1st over India in the test format.

The game at Dhaka has been dominated by the ball as batters have found it difficult to score runs. The ball has seamed, bounced and swung for the fast bowlers, while the spinners too have had their say with the ball.

Nazmul Shanto’s antics leaves Virat Kohli frustrated –

India were bowled out for 314 in the first innings taking a lead of 87. The Bangladeshis had to bat out 9 overs left in the day. The two openers Shanto and Zakir Hasan though were constantly asking for the assistance of the 12th man.

At one point, the two called for a bat change but surprisingly decided to stick the original willow. All these tactics did not sit down well with the Indian camp. Virat Kohli, in particular was heard saying “Kapde Bhi Utar De”.

Bangladesh set India 145 to win –

Bangladesh began the day at 9/0 still 78 runs behind India. Some bad fielding and dropped catches helped Bangladesh score 231 on the board. The hero with the bat for the home team was Liton Das who scored 73 off 98 balls. He was given good support by Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed who scored 31 each.

Pant and Iyer miss centuries –

India in their 1st innings were 94/4 with Virat Kohli falling cheaply yet again. Pant and Iyer joined forces to add 159 for the 5th wicket in 37.1 overs. Pant fell in the nineties yet again scoring 93 off 105 balls, laced with 5 sixes and 7 fours. Iyer on the other hand scored 87 off 105 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. For the home team, Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam picked 4 wickets each.

At the time of writing, India were 9/1 with KL Rahul out for 2 caught behind off Shakib with India still needing 136 to win.
