Indian cricket team and its fans are just under 48 hours away from playing their first game, in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The men in blue are sweating it out in the nets profusely as they are getting ready to take on Pakistan in the first game at MCG on Sunday. The game is seeing uncertainty as there is heavy rains predicted on Saturday and Sunday.

The incident as it happened –

Virat Kohli was batting in the nets for India when a few fans started to appreciate and cheer the former Indian skipper. At the adjacent nets, Mitchell Santner can be seen bowling for New Zealand. Kohli came out and said to the fans “yaar practice karte time mat bolo. Distraction hoti hai”

Rain threat looms large –

Melbourne has been witnessing heavy rains over the past few days and there are more rains expected. The weather forecast for the game on Sunday and the previous day is quiet grim with over 90% rain being predicted. There is a good chance the game could be a complete washout to dash hopes of a billion cricket fans.

Huge game at hand –

If the game does go through and there is no rain then it is a huge game for both the teams. Pakistan beat India during the 2021 T20 World Cup which was held at UAE by ten wickets. This was Pakistan’s first ever win over India in the world cups. India, on the other hand would want to avenge that loss and begin the tournament on a high

Zimbabwe and Netherlands join Group 2 –

Zimbabwe beat Scotland by 5 wickets to secure their place atop Group B of the qualifying stages. Zimbabwe and Netherland have qualified for the Super 12 stage in the 2nd group along with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa.

Sri Lanka and Ireland have qualified for Group 1, with Australia, New Zealand, England and Afghanistan. The Irish beat two time champs West Indies on Friday to confirm their place in the Super 12 stage for Group 1 by winning the game by 9 wickets at Hobart.
