The India’s women cricket team was in action at the final of CommonWealth Games 2022. The Women in Blue were facing Australia on Sunday at Edgbaston on Sunday (7 Aug 2022). The Aussies side won the toss and decided to bat first. The opener Beth Mooney scored 61 from 41 balls, and the Southern Stars posted a total of 161 runs.
India had to chase down a 162-run target to bag the gold medal, but they failed to reach the required total and just fell short by nine runs and then had to settle down with silver. However, the decision was not in the favor of India, but the team led by Harmanpreet Kaur made the whole nation proud by displaying extraordinary skills in the entire tournament.
In a close battle with Australia, the Indian team also had a moment of laughter for Indian cricketers when wicketkeeper-batswomen Yastika Bhatia had a fall.
The 22-year-old wasn’t part of the playing XI at the start of the match but was later included as a concussion substitute for Taniya Bhatia. Taniya, who is also a wicketkeeper, was hit on the back of her head while keeping wickets, as the ball deflected off her gloves during India's bowling in the first innings
In her place, Yastika was included in the Indian line-up during the second half of the match, and she came out to bat as the number nine batter in the penultimate over of the run chase.
But in a hilarious incident, when she was on her way to enter the field of play, she tripped over the advertising board, which had her teammates bursting out in laughter.
The skipper Harmanpreet Kaur couldn't keep a poker face as the entire dugout, and Smriti Mandhana in particular, was giggling at Yastika's tumble.

When the Yastika arrived at the field, India needed 13 runs off 9 balls, but she failed to make it. She could only score two runs from five balls, and she was dismissed by Jess Jonassen on the third ball. She was the last batswomen and India could only make 152 runs while chasing 162 runs.
