World Test Championship: 4 crucial series that will decide which team will lead to the finale

There are few series coming in the next year, which will play a pivotal role in deciding which team will qualify for the World test Championship.

England v/s South Africa

The three test series will happen in August and September in 2022. While England are out of the running to feature in next year's World Test Championship final, they can have a major say on who makes it to the decider during their upcoming series against the Proteas.

Brendon McCullum’s side will enter the series with full confidence, but the South Africa team is well prepared for this challenge and will try to retain their spot.

The fitness of Kagiso Rabada is a questionable topic and can impact the output of this series. The fast-pacer bowler is currently battling an ankle issue and is ruled out of the T20 series in Ireland.

Pakistan vs England-

In any case, Pakistan want to retain their spot at the World Test Championship, they have to find more consistency which will start from the home series against England at the end of year.

The three test series will start from December 2022. Babar Azam’s team has performed well in all the formats of the game. But the Pakistan captain will need the likes of Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique to continue to contribute well if they have to find any chance of reaching the World Test Championship finale.

The spin attack from the Pakistan team will play a crucial role during the series, as Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes will like to play and attack the hosts’ spinner.

England don't have a huge amount of depth in their spin, meaning Pakistan should have the upper hand in this crucial series that may well shape the top of the World Test Championship standings.

Australia v South Africa

The three series will start from December 2022 and January 2023. The winner of the series will get a final spot in the World test Championship finale.

The visitors will have plenty of support Down Under, with a large South African contingent likely to be in attendance for the three-Test series that will be pivotal to the race for the World Test Championship.

It will also be the first-red ball series that the two countries would be playing against each other after the infamous 2018 series that highlighted the news when the Australian players tampered with the ball during the match.

Australia duo Steve Smith and David Warner will be keen to atone for those dark days from four years ago, so look for the pair to attack South Africa's bowlers and try and stamp their authority early.

Interestingly Australia haven’t won a series against South Africa at home since the summer of 2008/09, so this series will be one of the important matches to look on.

India vs Australia

The four Test series matches are happening in February and March 2023. The battle for Border-Gavaskar Trophy happening next year could ultimately decide the spot of the World Test Championship.

Australia's tour of India in 2004 may have seen future skipper Michael Clarke and evergreen all-rounder Dinesh Karthik make their Test debuts, but it is also the last time the Aussies won a Test series on Indian soil.

Since then Australia have managed just one Test triumph in India alone - an emphatic 333-run victory in Pune in 2017 on the back of an amazing 12/70 from spinner Steve O'Keefe - so everything favours more pain for the tourists.

Australia are leaving no chance for preparations, they have sent eight promising players to Cheenai to cope up with the Indian conditions ahead of the trip happening next year. is bringing the excitement of the Indian international cricket season to the fans fingertips after the successful TATA IPL 2022 season. is one of the fastest growing sports brands in the world which has found a lot of following amongst cricket fans worldwide.
