The 2022 season of TATA IPL may be over a month ago, but the stories from the cash rich league keep on coming. TATA IPL over the years has been a huge source of showcasing talent for cricketers. The league some of the young players to make a name for themselves and put their hands up for national selections. One of the biggest teams have benefitted from the TATA IPL is none other than India. Lot of young players have out their hands up and have got selected for the Indian team.

The story as it happened -
Shivam Mavi captivated the world with his pace during the Under-19 world cup in 2018. He formed a lethal pairing with Kamlesh Nagarkotti to win the tournament led by Shaw. The 23 year old from UP is known to clock good speeds in excess of 140 KPH and was recently playing for KKR.

Young pacer reveals the advice Dale Steyn gave him during the TATA IPL season

Mavi during the course of the season to interact with South African bowling legend Dale Steyn. Mavi recounted the interactioin with Steyn and said “It was my dream to meet Dale Steyn because I’ve been following him since I was a kid. It felt really, really good to meet him. I shared things with him, and talked about the injury issues, he said – It’s OK, these things happen. You just need to focus on the things that’ll help you move forward. He also said – Just keep bowling fast, you’ll 100 percent play for India”

Shivam Mavi’s IPL career in a nutshell –

SHivam Mavi began his career with KKR before being released post the end of 2021 season. He was bought by KKR again and endured a difficult season as he played a mere 6 games and picked just 5 wickets with the ball. Mavi had an economy rate of over ten runs per over. In 32 IPL games, Mavi has picked 30 wickets with a best of 4/21 which came during the 2021 season, which was his best outing as he picked 11 wickets from 9 games for KKR.
