Ashes 2023: Twitter reacts as Australia do not review after a clear edge from Crawley’s bat

Australia come into the Ashes 2023 after having won the World Test Championships just a few days ago. In front of Australia the newly crowned test champions is none other than their old rivals England. The English themselves are bringing a new aspect to test cricket with their attacking brand called the Baz-Ball under the coaching of Brendon McCullum and captaincy of Ben Stokes. England, are waiting to break the 8 year streak of not having won the urn against a spirited Pat Cummins led Australian side.

Australian bowlers put under the sword by Crawley–

England opener Zak Crawley was showing his good form with the bat as he smacked Pat Cummins for a four off the 1st ball of the game and the series. The right handed batter was in his elements as he went after the Australian bowlers. Despite the loss of two wickets at the other end, Crawley was scoring at a good rate against the Australian bowlers.

Zak Crawley gets a massive slice of luck –

There was a huge moment during the 1st day before lunch with Crawley facing off against Scott Boland. The English opener came down the wicket and missed the line pof the ball. The Australians later learnt that there was a huge nick off the bat of Crawley. The Englishman heaved a sigh of relief as the big screen showed the nick and laughed at the huge fortune he had got thanks to Australia.

Australia grabs three wickets before lunch –

England decided to bat first after winning the toss and Josh Hazlewood got the 1st wicket of the day. Ben Duckett was caught behind for 12 as the score read 22/1. Ollie Pope and Crawley then added 70 for the 2nd wicket in 86 balls.

Nathan Lyon then got the wicket of Pope after the DRS went the way of the Australians. Pope was out for 31 off 44 balls with 2 fours, Crawley then got his 9th fifty in test cricket. The 4th ball of the last over before lunch saw Boland get the wicket of Crawley when he had him caught behind off Carey. The English opener scored 61 off 73 balls with 12 fours in his knock.
