In what is coming as shocking news to many the Mumbai police had arrested former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and well known pop artist Guru Randhawa for violating the COVID norms that were imposed in the state of Maharashtra. The two were amongst the 34 people who were arrested from a club called Dragonfly which is located near the Mumbai airport; both Raina and Randhawa were later granted bail and released by the Mumbai police.

With the whole country still coming to grips with the Coronavirus Pandemic that had rocked and wrecked the lives of many during the course of the year, the nation is slowly opening up and bringing normalcy back. The threat of COVID though still lingers and many of the Indian states have imposed strict regulations as pertaining to mass gatherings and have put in place strict measures for social distancing. The state of Maharashtra is one of the worst affected with new daily spikes in cases being reported. The former Indian cricket Suresh Raina and pop sensation Guru Randhawa were arrested and charged under the sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently, does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of Common Intention) as per the IPC.

The former Indian international who retired from the game along with best friend and former captain MS Dhoni during the India Independence Day this year had to pull out of the IPL too due to family emergency. While CSK had put out conflicting reports of Suresh Raina pulling out, it is expected Raina will be made available for the IPL auctions in effect ending his long association with the team in Yellow.
