Fans troll PCB after players are given costly phones and ‘house plots’ to the winners of PSL

Pakistan Super League may have got over a few days ago, but the news surrounding it isn’t dying down. At a time when Pakistan is going through financial turmoil, the staging of Pakistan Super League was questioned and slammed. Many asked the logic behind hosting the event at a time when inflation was reaching its peak. Now there is yet another news which is sure to raise eyebrows and questions on many people’s faces.

The story as it happened –

Lahore Qalandar’s won their 2nd PSL title in a row as they beat Multan Sultans in the finals by 1 run. Shaheen Afridi the captain of the side had led his side to their 2nd title win in 2 years after winning the title in 2022.

Expensive phones and Plots given to winners of PSL 2023 –

Days after Lahore won the title in front of their home fans, there is one more controversy that PCB finds itself. It is believed that Lahore franchise had decided to give ‘Plots of Land’ to the winning members of the side and also expensive phone to its foreign players.

Afghan player Rashid Khan and English wicket keeper batter, Sam Billings were apparently given plots of land. Namibian player, David Wiese was apparently given an expensive I-Phone 14 phone. Once this news came out a bunch of Pakistani people aren’t happy.

Luxury at the time of austerity ?

Pakistan’s economy has been under huge gripe for the last few months. At one point during the PSL 2023 season, there were talks that the tournament could be shifted to UAE. This was because of the local tax issues between the current government and the PCB. There were also reports of theft of CCTV cameras and other things from the ground which made global headlines.

While the news broke, Farid Khan who happens to be a journalist took to Twitter and wrote this. “David Wiese won himself IPhone 14. Shaheen Afridi won 1 Kanal Plot and another 2 Kanal Plot. Zaman Khan, bagged himself a plot top, a plot for Abdullah Shafique as well, 1 Kanal Plot for Rashid Khan and 1 for Fakhar Zaman . Plots Galore at Lahore Qalandars”
