Bangladeshi player Tamim Iqbal recently announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The 34 year old bid an tearful goodbye while addressing the press on Thursday. The left handed batter is regarded as one of the best batters to come out of Bangladesh in terms of stroke play and aggression. Tamim Iqbal along with Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan form the deadly trio of Bangladeshi cricket since 2007.

The U Turn on his retirement plans –

Tamim Iqbal’s retirement plans shocked every cricket fan in Bangladesh with the 2023 World Cup just around the corner. The Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief also stated his shock and asked Tamim to reconsider his decision. Tamim Iqbal, then shocked the world by coming out of retirement at the request of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Shaikh Hasina.

The sudden and quick turnaround of Retirement plans of Tamim Iqbal might have got many reactions. Rajasthan Royals Twitter Admin though was quick to have some fun at the expense of the Bangladeshi player.

Rajasthan Royals took to Twitter and put out a tweet with the caption Fastest Things in 2023. RR put up 4 pictures, with Dhoni’s stumping of Gill being at the forefront. Yashavi Jaiswal’s fastest IPL 50 and Mark Wood’s fastest ball bowled in England for sometime. The final picture was that of Tamim Iqbal mocking his quick turnaround.


Tamim Iqbal’s statement after his decision to reverse his call –

Bangladeshi fans sorrow turned to joy as Iqbal reversed his decision to retire. The left handed batter had released a statement where he said that it was at the intervention of Shaikh Hasina that he decided to make a comeback.

What next for the Bangladeshi player?

Tamim Iqbal will now take a break for a few weeks before coming back to play during the Asia Cup 2023. Bangladesh reached the final of Asia Cup in 2014, 2016 and 2018 losing to Pakistan and India twice. The tournament will serve as a huge chance for Tamim Iqbal and his teammates to prepare for the 2023 World Cup.
