The evening game will see Lucknow take on Kolkata at the famed Eden Gardens in a bid to make it to the play offs.

Aakash Chopra suggests two rule changes for 2024 season of TATA IPL –

Former Indian opener turned commentator, Aakash Chopra is known to have his views on the game. ahead of the final weekend of the tournament, Chopra came out with some valuable inputs for the upcoming season next year.

Bonus point rule to make it simple?

Taking to Twitter, Aakash Chopra wrote “there are two changes that I would propose for next seasons IPL. 1. Introduction of the Bonus Point for winning a game with a huge margin. NRR is absolute but over 14 games is a tough math to understand. Bonus Point is a tangible reward for playing significantly better also keeps the interest alive for longer”.

TATA IPL 2023 has been a competitive one and one has sun nearly every team stay in contention for a place in the top 4. With Gujarat Titans qualifying with ease, it took nearly the penultimate week to know which of the other teams are in contention as Delhi and Hyderabad were knocked out over the last weekend.

Final weekend games to start on the same time?

The final weekend of the TATA IPL 2023 match will see Delhi play first against Chennai, followed by Kolkata hosting Lucknow. The games on Sunday will see Mumbai host Hyderabad in the afternoon game while Gujarat will end the league phase with a game against Bangalore.

Tweeting about this, Aakash Chopra said “ 2. Provision of starting the games in the final leg at the same time. Today, LSG has the advantage of knowing the exact math to go over CSK on NRR. Because CSK plays first, Same for tomorrow depending on results. Thoughts welcome”

While Aakash Chopra has been trolled for his comments in the past, he does make a fair point as far as the likely rules changes is concerned.
